DAILY ITINERARY

DAY 1 – 2: DEPART UK/ARRIVAL IN JAPAN
Fly from London Heathrow to Kansai International Airport (Osaka) from where you will be met and taken to Kyoto by private coach. Check into your centrally-located 4* Kyoto hotel for 4 nights on a bed and breakfast basis.

DAY 3: SIGHTSEEING IN KYOTO
Enjoy the sights of Kyoto today. You'll visit some beautiful shrines and temples, including Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion), the Zen temple and gardens of Daitoku-ji, and Kiyomizu temple, which offers breathtaking views over the city. Your knowledgeable guide will help you appreciate Japan's city of culture. For dinner, you'll enjoy a kaiseki (Japanese haute cuisine) meal for which Kyoto is famed (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)

DAY 4: SIGHTSEEING IN NARA
This morning we will make the short trip by local train to the ancient city of Nara, home to the world's largest wooden building and the Great Buddha statue. We will enjoy a delicious lunch of noodles before visiting the lovely town of Uji famed throughout Japan for the quality of its tea. Here we'll have a delightful green tea experience and learn how the best tea is made. For dinner tonight you will be treated to a fabulous sukiyaki meal. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)

DAY 5: KYOTO FOOD MARKET & COOKING EXPERIENCE
You'll start today with a cooking lesson in which you'll learn to make popular everyday dishes such as dumplings and roasted eggplant which you can easily replicate at home. Enjoy the fruits of your labour for lunch. Next, visit the bustling Nishiki-Koji food market to explore the variety of culinary delights.  Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure. A delicious Japanese dinner is included tonight. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)

 

DAY 6: KYOTO TO HAKONE
Today we say goodbye to Kyoto and board Japan's famous Bullet Train bound for Hakone, a quiet mountain resort nestling in the foothills of Mt Fuji. We suggest you buy traditional o-bento (lunchboxes) for lunch today which you'll eat on the train Japanese-style. We check into our lovely 4* Deluxe hotel for the night. You are free to spend the afternoon strolling the mountain paths or relaxing in your hotel's soothing, private indoor and outdoor hot spring baths. Enjoy a delicious three-course meal tonight at your hotel. (Breakfast & Dinner included)

 

DAY 7: HAKONE TO TOKYO
Following breakfast, we will explore the landscape of Hakone by private coach, enjoy a cruise across Lake Ashi, ride in a cable car for a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding mountains and volcanic valleys of Owakudani and visit the Hakone Open Air Museum. We then make the short train ride onwards to Tokyo, a city which must be seen to be believed. Check into your centrally-located 4* Tokyo hotel for 4 nights. Enjoy another delicious included meal tonight. (Breakfast & Dinner included)

 

DAY 8: TOKYO SIGHTSEEING
We will be up early this morning to explore the biggest fish wholesale market in the world! Next stop is Hamarikyu garden, where you can enjoy a relaxed stroll and a cup of green tea. From here we will head up the river by boat to the bustling Kappabashi area will visit its famous cookware shops. As you'll probably know, there are more Michelin-starred restaurants in Tokyo than Paris. Tonight, you will have the opportunity of visiting one of these restaurants yourself. (Breakfast & Lunch included)

 

DAY 9: TOKYO SIGHTSEEING
Today we will visit Harajuku, the birthplace of many of Japan's fashion trends. Nearby is serene Meiji Shrine, famous for its giant toori gate entrance. The approximately 100,000 forested grounds mask the sound of the busy city, giving all a sense of tranquillity. This afternoon we'll ascend Tocho tower for some fantastic views over the city. (Breakfast & Dinner included)

 

DAY 10: TOKYO
Today is yours to enjoy at leisure. Join us for a Farewell dinner. (Breakfast & Dinner included)

 

DAY 11: JAPAN
Transfer by private coach to Narita Airport (Tokyo) and return to the UK (arrive same day).
