8 – 9 May: Depart UK/Arrival in Japan
Fly from London Heathrow to Kansai International Airport (Osaka) from where you will be met and taken to Kyoto by private coach. Check into your centrally-located 4* Kyoto hotel for 4 nights on a bed and breakfast basis.

10 May: Sightseeing in Kyoto
Enjoy the sights of Kyoto today. You’ll visit some beautiful shrines and temples, including Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion), the Zen temple and gardens of Daitoku-ji, and Kiyomizu temple, which offers breathtaking views over the city. Your knowledgeable guide will help you appreciate Japan’s city of culture. For dinner, you’ll enjoy a kaiseki (Japanese haute cuisine) meal for which Kyoto is famed.

11 May: Sightseeing in Nara
This morning we will make the short trip by local train to the ancient city of Nara, home to the world’s largest wooden building and the Great Buddha statue. We will enjoy a delicious lunch of noodles before visiting the lovely town of Uji famed throughout Japan for the quality of its tea. Here we’ll have a delightful green tea experience and learn how the best tea is made. For dinner tonight you will be treated to a fabulous sukiyaki meal. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included

12 May: Kyoto Food Market & Cooking Experience
You’ll start today with a visit to the bustling Nishiki-Koji food market in Kyoto. You will then be able to enjoy cooking some Japanese for yourself – Kyoto’s delicious vegetarian cuisine is on the menu today as is the homely Japanese classic, nikujaga stew, which you can easily replicate at home. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. A delicious Japanese dinner is included tonight. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included

13 May: Kyoto to Hakone
Today we say goodbye to Kyoto and board Japan’s famous Bullet Train bound for Hakone, a quiet mountain resort nestling in the foothills of Mt Fuji. We suggest you buy traditional o-bento (lunchboxes) for lunch today which you’ll eat on the train Japanese-style. We check into our lovely 4* Deluxe hotel for the night. You are free to spend the afternoon strolling the mountain paths or relaxing in your hotel’s soothing, private indoor and outdoor hot spring baths. Enjoy a delicious three course meal tonight at your hotel. Breakfast & Dinner included

14 May: Hakone to Tokyo
Following breakfast, we will explore the landscape of Hakone by private coach, enjoy a cruise across Lake Ashi, ride in a cable car for a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding mountains and volcanic valleys of Owakudani and visit the Hakone Open Air Museum. We then make the short train ride onwards to Tokyo, a city which must be seen to be believed. Check into your centrally-located 4* Tokyo hotel for 4 nights. Enjoy another delicious included meal tonight. Breakfast & Dinner included

15 May: Tokyo sightseeing
We will be up early this morning to visit Tsukiji, the biggest fish wholesale market in the world! You can follow this an early lunch of the freshest sushi imaginable. Next stop is Hamarikyu garden, where you can enjoy a relaxed stroll and a cup of green tea. From here we will head up the river by boat to the bustling Kappabashi area will visit its famous cookware shops. As you’ll probably know, there are more Michelin starred restaurants in Tokyo than Paris. Tonight, you will have the opportunity of visiting one of these restaurants yourself. Breakfast & Lunch included

16 May: Tokyo sightseeing
Today we will visit Harajuku. As it’s a Sunday we should be able to see some traditional Japanese-style weddings at beautiful Meiji Shrine, and you will also have time to explore the lively district of Harajuku. This afternoon we’ll ascend Tocho tower for some fantastic views over the city. Breakfast & Dinner included

17 May: Tokyo
Today is yours to enjoy at leisure. Join us for a Farewell dinner.

18 May: Depart Japan
Transfer by private coach to Narita Airport (Tokyo) and return to the UK (arrive same day).

Hotel Century is excellently located in the central district of Shinjuku, and therefore a good spot for exploring Tokyo itself.
