Come and experience  the real Japan – the subways, the nightlife, the neon & pop culture that makes Tokyo the world’s busiest, wildest, craziest non-stop megalopolis. Highlights of the tour include a visit to the Ghibli Museum, a private tour of a working anime studio, guided tours of Tokyo including visits to Akihabara and Nakano Broadway– famous for dozens of anime and manga stores. See the Cosplay dolls at Harajuku or maybe hang out in a “Maid Café”. Alongside the ultra-modern, you’ll also experience the traditional culture and sites of Tokyo.

And why not add an extra week to your stay and discover another side to this fascinating and beautiful country. We will provide you with all the information you need to travel around Japan independently.

PRICE: £1,325 per person for a room on a shared basis

US, Australia and Canada £825 per person (for non-uk residents)

Days 1-2: UK-Tokyo
Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Tokyo. (Non-UK passengers will have to make their own flight arrangements). Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel in Tokyo by private coach.

Day 3: Ghibli Museum, Nakano Broadway
After breakfast, we will visit the superb Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, designed by one of the world's top animators, Hayao Miyazaki – Academy Award winner for Spirited Away. Then we go on to Nakano Broadway – the mega-mall home to Mandarake and countless other manga and deranged speciality stores.

Day 4: Shijuku, Harajuku, Meiji Shrine, Yoyogi Park
Today we start with an orientation of Shinjuku visiting local hotspots and stopping off at a Manga Café. We then go on to wacky Harajuku and beautiful Meiji Shrine nearby. As it’s a Sunday, you’ll be able to soak up the atmosphere of Yoyogi Park where young Japanese get dressed up in their finest gear as…..1950s rockers, punks and Cosplay dolls! Enjoy the bands in the park as we then move on to the Oriental Bazaar – a great place for souvenir shopping.

Day 5: Akihabara, Anime Studio visit
After breakfast we visit Akihabara – Tokyo's “Electric Town” and home to dozens of anime, manga and electronic goods stores. In the afternoon we have the chance of a lifetime to pay a fascinating visit to one of Japan’s top working anime studios.

Day 6: Free Day
Today is yours to enjoy at leisure, or, you may want to join one of our optional trips. The first is an unescorted trip to the magical world of Tokyo Disneyland. Alternatively, how about a fully-guided tour to Mt. Fuji and the beautiful nearby resort of Hakone, returning to Tokyo by Bullet Train?

Day 7: Tokyo Tower, Asakusa, River Cruise
Today we visit the iconic Tokyo Tower – Godzilla’s favourite haunt – where you will gain access to the Main Observatory. We then go on to bustling Sensoji Temple in Asakusa – beloved by all Tokyoites. We then enjoy a pleasure cruise from Asakusa pier along the Sumida River to Hama-Rikyu, site of one of Tokyo’s loveliest gardens.

Day 8: Return to the UK
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Narita Airport (Tokyo International Airport) by private coach from where you will depart for the UK.

Single room supplement: £180

To make a booking, a deposit of 10% per person is required.

Day 1: Tokyo-Kyoto
Check out of your Tokyo hotel with the rest of the Manga Group.
Spend a leisurely morning in Tokyo before boarding Japan's world famous Bullet Train and speed to Kyoto, the traditional and cultural heart of Japan.
Check into your superbly located, spotless 3* hotel (3 nights).

We will provide you with a 7 Day Japan Rail Pass for travel over the next few days. This gives you unlimited access to the entire Japan Rail (JR) network, including Bullet Train (Shinkansen) services.

Day 2: Kyoto sightseeing
Join a seated coach tour for sightseeing in Kyoto. The tour is guided, lunch is included, and sights include Nijo Castle, the beautiful Golden Pavilion and Kiyomizu-dera, a lovely mountainside temple boasting stunning views over the city.

Day 3: Nara sightseeing
Self-guided excursion to the nearby city of Nara, Japan's first permanent capital and home to eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Day 4: Kyoto-Miyajima
Check out of your hotel and board the Bullet Train bound for Hiroshima. Continue by local train and ferry to the lovely island of Miyajima. Check into your ryokan for 1 night. A ryokan is a traditional Japanese inn where you'll sleep on a futon on a tatami mat floor. A delicious Japanese dinner (included) will be served to you.

Enjoy the sights of this peaceful island. You can walk round the island in the evening wearing your cotton yukata (a robe provided in your room).

Day 5: Miyajima & Hiroshima sightseeing, return to Kyoto
After breakfast at your ryokan, head back to the mainland and visit Hiroshima's moving Peace Memorial Park, Museum and Atomic Bomb Dome.

Later this afternoon board the Bullet Train back to Kyoto.
Check into your hotel for 2 nights.

Day 6: Himeji Castle, Osaka
Using your Japan Rail Pass, visit nearby Himeji and its imposing castle, the most magnificent of all Japan's remaining castles. On your return to Kyoto you might like to stop off in Osaka, Japan's lively second city. Later, return to your hotel in Kyoto.

Day 7: Return to UK
Sadly it's time to say goodbye to Japan...until next time! Transfer to Kansai International Airport (Osaka) for your flight home.

Total price: £749 per person on a twin/double room shared basis
Single room supplement: £100

This will be added to the balance of your trip which must be received 12 weeks prior to departure.
